Stock Photo - Sep. 09, 1966 - Submarine Sinks in the North Sea: A German submarine was reported today to have sunk in the North Sea yesterday evening. The report came from a British trawler which said she had picked up a survivor. The trawler, St Martin, from Lewestoft also reported four ------- more men in the water. The trawler identified the submarine by the NATO pennant number S170. This is the number of the Hamburg-built West German submarine HAI (SHARK). The Shark carried a crew of 15. She was built in 1945 and sunk in the ----- -t the c-d of the Second World War. She was raised in 1956 and re-commissioned on October 1, 1957, after being rebuilt at Keil.
