Stock Photo - Sep. 09, 1968 - Inaugeration Of New Site For Abu Simberl Temples: The giant temples of Pharoach Ramses II, were yesterday inaugratioted at their noiew site at Abu Simbel in the presence of representative of 40 nations and 12 international Porganisations who have taken part in the campaign to save them for the water of the Lake Nasser, The many years of efforts in re-locating the temples will be rewarded with the knowledge that these cultural heritages will be safe for posterity and for the world to come and admire as it has dome for nearly 4,000 years .The statues were raised 200 feet onto a promontory overlooking the old site now under many feet of the flooded Nil delta, the result of a large agricultural damming project which was necessary for the benefit of the country. photo shows view showing the colossi of Rameses II on its new site above the waters of lake Nasser, with the join lines of the individual blocks still visible.
