Geiger, known by many because of his invention of the 'Geiger-detector', was a student of Hutherford. Who lectured in Kiel, Tubingen and Berlin. Together with J.M. Nuttal he showed 1911 the so-called Geiger-Nuttal relation between energy and half-time of the Alpha-radiation of radioactive materials . 1928 he constructed together with W. Muller the Geiger-Muller detector. This device is used for detecting electric parts with which energy, mostly during nuclear physical tests.
