Stock Photo - State and military representatives attended the funeral of Jiri Schams, Czech war veteran from Afghanistan and initiator of a fund in support of wounded veterans, who was buried with military honours today, on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Before the ceremony, two Jas-39 Gripen fighters and two Mi-24 combat helicopters crossed the sky above the crematory in Prague-Strasnice. Schams, nicknamed ""Regi"", who was seriously injured in Afghanistan in 2008, died of cancer last week aged 42 years. Along with his family, soldiers, including his comrades-in-arms, as well as Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky and chief-of-staff Petr Pavel (left) attended the funeral. A guard of honour was standing at the coffin, a military chaplain gave a speech, an honorary volley was fired and the national anthem played at the funeral. (CTK Photo/Vit Simanek)
