English nurse, Edith Cavell (1865-1915), was executed by the Germans on 12 October 1915 for helping allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium. Her remains were transferred to the UK after the war ended, and a memorial service held in Westminster Abbey, London. She was buried at Life's Green, near Norwich Cathedral, on 19 May.
