Stock Photo - The end product of George Tessyman's seaweed farming, processed in his attic laboratory. It is agar-agar, a jelly-like substance used in the manufacture of such diverse products as jelly desserts, salad dressings, laxatives, oil-drawing lubricants, toothpaste and cosmetics. George's interest in seaweed was first sparked while he was serving in the Royal Navy, and the Tessymans were the first people in Britain to harvest seaweed as a means of enhancing food production.
