Stock Photo - The Villaviciosa estuary is a natural estuary located in the Principality of Asturias, specifically in the municipality of Villaviciosa. It flows into the Cantabrian Sea, between the beaches of Rodiles and El Puntal. Its surroundings were declared a partial nature reserve in 1995. The salinity of the waters is relatively high, due to the scarce supply of fresh water from the streams that go to the estuary , which has an impact on flora and fauna.
