Stock Photo - Thousands pack the Cannonball at Penn Station in New York to get out of the city for the Memorial Day weekend. Every Friday during the summer the train, consisting of double-decker cars pulled by a powerful dual-mode locomotive, will run express to Westhampton on Long Island making the 76 mile trip in 94 minutes. From Westhampton it will continue to points east arriving at the tip of the island, Montauk. On Sundays the train will reverse and return to Penn Station. The train is the only named run on the railroad. The trip from Penn Station to the Montauk terminal is 117 miles making the train the longest run on the railroad.
