Biography

I previously art directed photography for publishing but now love ‘telling the story’ myself. I like real situations, the energy of actual events and enjoy the incongruity of every day things, versus our often sophisticated expectations. I think life is a visual adventure and that it’s exciting to share experiences and communicate in a way that transcends written language and cultural expectations

Any special artistic influences?
Jane Austen’s ‘little piece of ivory’, Chaucer’s ‘Wife of Bath’ and Shakespeare’s ‘green and pleasant land!’
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
‘Walk everywhere and do one venue a day’, was a sculptor's advice to me for sightseeing in Florence, which I think is equally true for taking great photos.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
Scriptorium in the morning, medicinal garden in the afternoon, feasting and singing at night - a medieval monk, art conservator or herbalist!
