Foto de stock - 13 October 2021, Saxony-Anhalt, Elbingerode: Harzer Rotes Höhenvieh grazing on a meadow in the Upper Harz. The reddish-brown cattle is one of the most original livestock breeds. At the turn of the century, the breed still accounted for up to 90 percent of the cattle population in the highlands of some low mountain ranges. But with the mechanisation of agriculture, most of the stocks dwindled, as the Red Highland Cattle lost all importance as working cattle and were replaced in milk production by high-performance breeds. Today, this breed is being rediscovered in the care of the cultivated landscape and its meat is used in domestic cuisine. Photo: Matthias Bein/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Elbingerode/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
