A linear accelerator is being assembled at the Harzklinikum Dorothea Christiane Erxleben in Wernigerode. This device will be used to treat patients with tumor diseases. Thanks to the latest medical technology, radiation can be administered more gently and quickly. Another advantage is the user-friendliness for the staff of the Radiation Therapy Clinic. The municipal Harz Hospital is investing around two million euros in the renewal of the linear accelerator. The new ""Harmony"" model has been supplied by the Swedish manufacturing company Elekta for only the fourth time in Germany. In the coming weeks, the computer programs for device control and treatment (software) will be installed. The plan is to treat the first patients in July.
