Since 2018, the city of Hamburg has been operating a test track for automated and connected driving (TAVF) in the city center with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV). Research institutions, vehicle manufacturers and technology companies have equipped more than 70 traffic signals and the Mahatma Ghandi Bridge in HafenCity with intelligent communication units on the user-open test track. The traffic signals can thus communicate with each other and with the vehicles. Photo: Marcus Brandt/dpa. - Hamburg/Hamburg/Germany
