Foto de stock - PRODUCTION - 17 October 2023, Saxony, Döbrichau: The first purple-flowering saffron crocuses (Crocus sativus) can be seen at a garden site in northern Saxony. Horticultural expert Harald Alex has planted around 13,000 tubers on 130 square meters for the cultivation of saffron, one of the most expensive spices in the world, and hopes for a bountiful harvest. Alex is one of the co-initiators who want to revive saffron cultivation in central Germany, which has been cultivated for four thousand years, with a ""Saffron Road"" and offer it as a tourist attraction. The plant, which is cultivated especially in the Aegean region, is known as a spice, medicinal and dyeing plant.
