Foto de stock - Notre_Dame of Semur_En_Auxois is considered as a remarkable example of the Gothic art. Most parts of the edifice date from the first half of the 13th century. Until the beginning of the 18th century, Notre_Dame remained a priory church, used by Benedictine monks. During the revolution it became a temple to the Goddess Reason. Notre_Dame was restored in the middle of the 19th century, by the famous architect Viollet_Le_Duc. Adorned with vivid colors, like in the Middle Ages, Our Lady´s chapel contains a 14th century inspired statue. The 13th century stained glass windows can be easily recognized by the intense crimson and deep blue. Seen here is a stained glass window with scenes of the cloth merchant´s work.
