Foto de stock - The West Shore Expressway behind a well head collecting methane gas in Freshkills Park, formerly Freshkills Landfill, in Staten Island in New York. The landfill was officially closed on March 22, 2001, having been opened in 1947, and is in the process of being converted into the 2200 acre Freshkills Park, a process expected to take at least 30 years. The mounds of landfill have been or are in the process of being capped and vegetation is growing. NYC Parks and Freshkills Park Alliance have provided access for the production of this artwork.
