The Hotel de Ville, or Town Hall, of Avignon, is located in the city's historic Place de l'Horloge, or Clock Square. The building was built in 1510 by the then-mayor of the city, Philippe de Forbin, and was renovated in the 16th century by the architect Jean de Louvres. It is situated in the heart of the old city, close to the famous Palais des Papes and the famous Pont d'Avignon. The building is a mixture of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque styles, and is adorned with statues, sculptures, and other decorations. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city and is open to the public for guided tours.
