Foto de stock - The cathedral of Coimbra has been in its present site since the Visigothic period. The first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, financed the construction of the present building, which lasted from 1162 to 1184. Built in the Romanesque style, this church_fortress was designed by the French architect Master Robert. The cloister was built in early Gothic style around 1218. The pediments of the arches are each decorated with unique tracery. In the courtyard is the Biblical Garden.
