Foto de stock - Dan Gurney, 1960s. The son of an opera singer, Gurney first came to prominence in motor racing when he joined the works Ferrari team in 1959. Finding the team's disciplinarian approach not to his liking, he left to join BRM, then moving to Porsche in 1961, winning the first of his four Grand Prix victories with them in France the following season. Between 1963 and 1965 he competed for Brabham, and after that with his own team. In 1967, Gurney won the Le Mans 24 Hour Race driving a Ford in partnership with AJ Foyt. After the deaths of Jim Clark in 1968 and Bruce McLaren in 1970, Gurney's enthusiasm for driving diminished, and he retired in 1970.
