Foto de stock - Feb. 26, 2012 - Full-Scale Mockup Shows SST Lines: This mockup of the U.S. Supersonic transport airliner duplicates every major part of the two prototype aircraft Boeing is building. The 287-foot-long mockup is used by engineering and manufacturing personnel to verify details of the SST design. Prototype, powered by General Electric engines, is to fly by the end of 1972 to begin an extensive flight test program before the plane goes into full production. The SST -- first airliner ever designed with the environment in mind -- will by carrying up to 300 passengers around the globe at 1,800 miles an hour by the end of this decade. This mockup is constructed almost entirely of aluminum, but the flying versions will be of much stronger titanium. (Credit Image: © Keystone Pictures USA/ZUMAPRESS.com)
