Foto de stock - May 05, 1967 - The F-111 Swing-wing Tactical Fighter On Show At Wethersfield. The F-111 swing-wing tactical fighter was shown at R.A.F. Station, Wethersfield, for the first time in the U.K. after a non-stop crossing of the Atlantic without refuelling. The U.S. Air Force jet fighter had arrived here following a 3300-mile crossing from Loring Air Force base, Maine, which lasted five hours and thirty-five minutes. it's long-range capacity was helped during the crossing by extending the wings to take-off-and instead of at its top speed of two-and-a half times the speed of sound in its swept-back arrowhead shape.
