The grain elevator was originally part of the NYS Barge Canal and was built in 1922 and is now part of the GBX-Gowanus Bay Terminal and is used for video and movie shoots. Future uses are considered for the storage of cement. The City of Water Day reconnects New Yorkers with the waterfront offering opportunities to see industrial uses as well as recreational uses.
