Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu was painted by the Edo period painter Tano Tan'yu in 17th century Japan. The painting shows Ieyasu in a formal court pose, richly outfitted in ancestral regalia. Morita Kametaro was commissioned to recreate the painting in the 20th century, copying the colors faithfully while imbuing the work with a modern flair. The original painting now hangs in the Tokyo National Museum's Hyokeikan Hall in Ueno Park on the island of Honshu, Japan.
