Stralsund will be the fourth city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to introduce an overnight tax from 01.09.2023. The overnight tax amounts to five percent of the net overnight price (without meals) in accommodation establishments and serves the general budget financing of the Hanseatic city. Accommodation establishments within the meaning of this Overnight Tax Statute include, in particular, hotels, boarding houses, private rooms, camping and mobile home sites, hostels, vacation homes and all types of vacation apartments. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the bed tax is already levied in Schwerin, Wismar and Greifswald, according to the Ministry of Economics.
