With mechanical support, a total of 1,106 planks are being pulled out, which had been driven into a length of around 440 metres in 1974. The costs for the first construction phase amount to around 3.2 million euros. Because the Sundpromenade area will be considerably upgraded for tourism as a result of the construction work, around 2.5 million euros will be subsidised by the federal and state governments as part of the joint task of ""improving the regional economic structure"", leaving 700,000 euros for the Hanseatic city itself.
