The tunnel boring machine had already been used months ago to build a so-called microtunnel through which the connection pipeline for the Rügen LNG terminal is to be landed in Lubmin. The pipeline is to be connected to the gas pipeline hub there. According to Gascade, the tunnel boring machine will first be prepared after salvage and then brought to Mukran. Here, work is already being done on a launch pit from which the tunnel boring machine is to make the microtunnel there, he said. On the initiative of the German government, two special ships are to be stationed in the port of Mukran in the north of Rügen for the landing of LNG.
