Foto de stock - 06 June 2022, Brandenburg, Potsdam: A hoopoe is held in the hand by a bird ringers in Sielmann's natural landscape Döberitzer Heide in order to be able to ring and weigh the chicks in the nest. For the Bird of the Year, 22 nesting boxes have been set up in which 27 chicks have been found so far and 21 have been ringed. Nationwide, estimates assume 800-950 Hoopoe breeding pairs in Germany, of which up to 400 breed in Brandenburg. The Hoopoe is a particularly distinctive bird with its striking feathered cap and black and white banded wings. It is considered endangered on Germany's Red List 2021.
