For the restoration of the station the New Zealander Peter Macky receives the Brandenburg Prize for the Preservation of Historical Monuments on 10.09.2020. The prize has been awarded since 1992 to honour the commitment of private individuals, associations and local authorities to the preservation of monuments. The building ensemble designed by architect Orth in 1865 consisted of a public and a royal station building. The latter was intended for the German Emperor Wilhelm I and his successors Friedrich III and Wilhelm II, who started their court hunts from here. After the railway station had become increasingly dilapidated in the 1990s, Macky began the restoration of the brick building in 2010. The three large rooms, the Kaisersaal, the Gefolgesaal and the entrance hall, are now in their original state. Photo: Soeren Stache/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Halbe/Brandenburg/Germany
