Railway enthusiasts have bought the German State Railways (DR) vehicle, built in 1986 at the RAW ""Einheit"" Leipzig, from the Berlin-Schöneweide Railway Museum and want to use it to preserve the railway line between Karow and Wismar, which was closed in 1999, as a cultural asset. A tourism company offers trolley rides on the route. The hobby railway enthusiasts discovered the over eleven-tonne rail vehicle on the Internet, decided to buy it and transported it to Mecklenburg by low-loader and heavy-duty crane. With a maximum speed of 60 kilometres per hour, a permitted payload of five tonnes and a maximum of eight passengers, the MZG is now on the move on the railway line for maintenance and repair work.
