The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Archaeology is currently digging in the area surrounding the site. The focus of the archaeological investigations is the extensive Early Bronze Age settlement that once existed at the gates of the ring sanctuary. During the new investigations at the ring ditch site, houses, rubbish pits and this supposed well have been found. According to archaeologists, the Bronze Age settlement, which is around 4200 years old, is the largest Early Bronze Age settlement in Central Europe.
