After the sensational search for a supposed lioness in Kleinmachnow last summer, the town has now donated 500 euros to the lion enclosure at Eberswalde Zoo (Barnim). A short video clip allegedly showing a lioness in Kleinmachnow attracted worldwide attention in the summer of 2023 and led to a major police operation. Several wild animal sightings, including by police officers, led to a large-scale search and warning of the population. In the course of the investigation, however, doubts arose as to whether it was actually a lioness, as no other lion tracks were discovered. Wildlife experts and independent trackers came to the conclusion that the animal in the video was more likely a wild boar through in-depth image analysis and on-site forensics.
