They owe their name to the Zeese, a trawl with which fishing was carried out in the coastal and Bodden waters, which are only one metre deep, from the 18th century until the 1950s. Today, the historic wooden boats are mainly used as tourist boats on round trips over the Bodden. However, they are also used for traditional regattas, which had to be cancelled for the first time this year due to the Corona pandemic.
