The former town house from 1784 houses the Markneukirchen Museum of Musical Instruments. The museum in the Vogtland music corner celebrates its 140th anniversary this year. The collection comprises far more than 10,000 individual objects, of which around 1,600 musical instruments are on display in the permanent exhibition. The collection was founded in 1883 by the town's trade association. At that time, Markneukirchen was globally important in the manufacture and trade of musical instruments, which were shipped all over the world.
