Foto de stock - PRODUCTION - 19 October 2022, Brandenburg, Reitwein: Fisheries biologist Jan Hallermann (l) from the Leibnitz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) measures a chub caught from the Oder River near Reitwein and then returns it to the water. Employees of the IGB carry out a fish sampling here, in which they also want to detect occurrences of the Baltic Golden Biter (Sabanejewia baltica). A population of about 500 individuals was last observed in 2021; it was considered the westernmost occurrence of the fish, which is native to Eastern Europe and Western Asia and grows up to 12 centimeters in length.
