Fort Macon State Park, originally called, Fort Dobbs then Fort Macon Military Reservation, is on the eastern end of Bogue Banks in North Carolina. Renovation of the fort was completed in 2003. The fort shows the 170 year history of the life of the military and fort. It is surrounded on 3 sides by water, the Atlantic Ocean, Beaufort Inlet and Bogue Sound.
