Photo de stock - 28 September 2023, Saxony, Adorf: Hydrobiologists from the Technical University of Dresden release young river pearl mussels into the water at the Triebel River in the Vogtland region. 250 mussels from a captive breeding program have been released into the wild. The freshwater mussel is threatened with extinction. For several years, the animals have therefore been bred in a station in the Vogtland district. It is one of four such facilities nationwide. Without this human help, the animals would have become extinct in Saxony, according to experts. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa. - Adorf/Saxony/Germany
