The town’s economy is based on its agricultural activity in the surrounding land. However, some industrial action exists, such as a ceramic tile factory and a company dedicated to packaging and distributing food products. It is known for its gastronomy and famous festivals, such as the Feria de Valdelacalzada, which occur each year in solidarity with the people affected by the Spanish civil war. Valdelacalzada has a variety of recreational and cultural activities, such as museums, monuments, and historic buildings. The town has two cloisters of its local convent and other historical monuments, such as two Renaissance-style churches. Valdelacalzada is known for its events, such as gastronomy festivals and popular music concerts. The municipality is connected to the nearby cities of Llerena, Villafranca de los Barros and Zaf
