Biography

I HAVE LIVED AND WORKED IN KYOTO FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS, WHICH HAS ALLOWED ME TO PHOTOGRAPH FESTIVALS AND EVENTS MANY TIMES, AND TO SHOOT THE TEMPLES AND SCENERY IN ALL FOUR SEASONS AND WEATHER.

I LIKE UKIYO-E, JAPANESE WOOD BLOCK PRINTS, AND WHEN I AM SHOOTING IN JAPAN, I TRY TO FIND THE SAME THEMES AS USED IN THESE.
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
BE THERE, USE F8 AND WEAR GOOD SHOES!
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
I WOULD BE AN ENGLISH PROF AT A JAPANESE UNIVERSITY.
