Biografía

As a geologist and analyst by training, my photographic eye is what's unexpected about me. My artistic ability surprised me more than anyone. I have combined my love for the outdoors with my love of photography for more than 30 years, and I enjoy nature as much now as when I was a boy. I have produced numerous outdoor guide and travel/coffeetable books, partnering with my writer wife. I live in Keizer, Oregon, USA.

Any special artistic influences?
My intrigue with nature comes across in my passion for all things wild. I have always been amazed by the natural world, big and small. The patterns and diversity of nature never disappoint.
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
Photograph what you like, but decide what to show, what needs to be in and what goes. Adjust to the conditions, go with your instinct, and then break loose. But always keep shooting.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
Stuck in an office doing paperwork.
