I am a freelance editorial photographer and photo-educator, based in Providence, Rhode Island. I specialize in intercultural communications and the use of light and shadow to enhance visual narratives. I have received two Fulbright fellowships and a grant from Nikon/N.P.P.A. I teach workshops at the International Center for Photography in NYC and the Maine Media Workshops. As an Olympus Visionary, I have been contracted to produce images and provide feedback on new product lines.
About Me
Any special artistic influences?
Harry Callahan, W. Eugene Smith and David Burnett (as well as the entire history of photography which I studied intensely in college.)
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
To become a great photographer is as just as hard a job as becoming a great doctor, lawyer, engineer or singer.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
I would be writer of creative non-fiction/magazine journalism about the intersection between economics and human behavior, like Malcolm Gladwell.
