Pratt Institute is the home of the oldest steam generators in the country which are used to heat the campus and run the school´s co-generating plant. The power plant is a Mechanical Engineering Landmark. As unique as the plant is, what is more unique is that every New Year´s Eve, the Chief Engineer connects his collection of steam whistles, including the whistle from the USS Normandy and a steam calliope and sets them all off enveloping the crowd in a fog of steam and very LOUD noise.
