After a series of discussions between the Dalai Lama and Jawaharlal Nehru it was decided that India would provide assistance to the Tibetan Refugees to enable them to settle down in India,until their eventual return as it was visualized at that time . At present the population of the Tibetan refugees in India is estimated to be around 120,000 and many live in camps.
