Recently he had his first success, when in the television broadcasts 'XY - unsolved' the so far unknown dead woman from the 'Konigastuhl| (B. Gruber, Germany) could be identified by his method, on which he had worked at home (the Sovietic professor Michael Gerassimow has 'invented' at the same time a similar method). When there is the skull of an unknown dead person (in the federal Republic there are presently about 2000 identified people), Furtmayr tries to to reconstruct the head by taking modelling substance which he applies on the head.Then the thus built head is covered with a wig, the color and cut of face ought sightly to resemble the real looking of the dead person and make an identification possible in many cases.
