Photo de stock - 05 October 2023, Brandenburg, Brügge: Young plants that have germinated after the grain harvest are standing in a field. The grain that fell out of the combine and the seeds of the unwanted weeds have germinated. A total herbicide containing the active ingredient glyphosate was then applied to the fresh green leaves. This causes the green plants to die (left)and their leaves to turn a characteristic yellow. The farmer can thus also eliminate the long-lived root weeds before sowing a new crop. The green strip that remains is the buffer strip, with the distance to the ditch that the farmer must maintain as a distance so that the active ingredient cannot be washed into bodies of water.
