Photo de stock - 08 September 2021, Brandenburg, Oranienburg: A plaque with the inscription ""One of Germany's first fascist concentration camps was located at this site from 1933 to 1934"" is affixed to a brick wall on Berliner Straße. In March 1933, the local SA had established Prussia's first concentration camp in the former Kindl brewery. Until the camp was closed in July 1934, about 3000 prisoners from Oranienburg and the surrounding area as well as from Berlin were interned here. At least 16 of the prisoners died in the Oranienburg concentration camp, including the writer Erich Mühsam. The memorial site is now to be redesigned in cooperation between the town and the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation based on suggestions from residents of the town.
