The 370th Weimar Onion Market begins on October 13. Around 400 traders and exhibitors open their stalls in the city center, six stages offer a colorful cultural program. The main role is played by around 50 onion farmers from Heldrungen in northern Thuringia, whose red-and-white braided onion plaits are the market's annual attraction. They also have onion dollies, garlic braids, herb and straw flower bouquets on offer. To kick things off, Lord Mayor Peter Kleine (no party affiliation) cuts an onion tart. Last year, he counted around 230,000 visitors. Photo: Martin Schutt/dpa. - Weimar/Thuringia/Germany
