The fly is named after Mick Jagger from the rock band The Rolling Stones. The fly was discovered by an entomologist from Stuttgart. In a special exhibition entitled: ""Rock Fossils feat. The Rolling Stoneflies"", fossils and objects named in honor of stars from the rock and metal scene are on display.
