Photo de stock - 29 January 2019, Brandenburg, Sauen: Lutz Ittermann (l-r), deputy chairman of the Mausohrverein e.V., Annika Mausbach and Karla Wurz, both are currently doing a voluntary ecological year (FÖJ) at the August Bier Foundation, is looking for bats in the vaults of the old steam brickworks that spend the winter here between crevices and joints. The Philipp Holzmann & Cie. steam tile factory, which is located in today's August Bier Foundation forest, started operations in 1891 and produced facing bricks, shaped bricks and roof tiles until 1912. Up to five different types of bats spend the winter every year in the vaults, some of which have already collapsed. These also include protected species such as the pug bat and the mouse ear.
