Photo de stock - The acquittal of three senior civil servants from the Czech EU presidency section took effect, the Prague High Court ruled today, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, but it upheld prison terms for all seven accused businesspeople in the Promopro corruption case. The appeals court stiffened the punishment for businessman Vaclav Cada who originally only received a suspended sentence. Cada will spend three years and six months in prison. The rest of the defendants were given five to nine-year prison sentences. Former Promopro executive Jaroslav Vesely was meted out a nine-year prison sentence with which he is still the most severely punished defendant.
