Photo de stock - The Jewish Community in Prague will receive hundreds of cobblestones, made of cut Jewish gravestones, found during a reconstruction project at Wenceslas Square, the community's chairman Frantisek Banyai told CTK today, on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Banyai said it is impossible to deduce the origin of the stones or the identity of the gravestones, but tens of the stones bear text fragments and hundreds are made of polished marble. At the end of last year, the capital of Prague and the TSK municipal company signed a memorandum with the Prague Jewish Community on returning any stones found during reconstruction works in the city centre. Many of the paving stones were made of cut Jewish gravestones during the Communist era. The found stones will be taken to the Old Jewish Cemetery in Fibichova street in Prague-Zizkov.
