On the same day, the Blumberg Federal Police Air Squadron conducted a joint exercise on the German-Polish border river Oder together with the German Red Cross (DRK), the German Water Rescue Service and the German Armed Forces, as well as Polish rescue units, to rescue people from flowing waters. The volunteer air rescuers of the DRK water rescue regularly practice according to a coordinated concept with the federal police. The cooperation was initiated after the major floods on the Oder in 1997 and the Elbe in 2002. This year, the exercise will be supported by a visit from the German Armed Forces.
